Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to suggest future research directions by analyzing research trends on PTSD of public workers in high risk occupational cluster (fireman, police officer, civil servant, soldier, train and subway driver). 65 studies were analyzed according to analytical criteria such as basic information, objects, methodology, measurements, and related variables. The number of articles increased from 2009 to 2013, but decreased after 2014. Most of the studies were mainly published in academic journals of psychology, medical, social welfare, and nursing/health science, especially in a sample of police officers and firemen. Most of the studies adopted the quantitative approach. The two most popular statistical methods were Analysis of Variance and Regression analyses, and IES-R-K and PDS were the most commonly used assessment tools to measure PTSD symptoms. Variables associated with PTSD symptoms were summarized into two categories in terms of their relationship (positive vs. negative) with PDSD symptoms. Positive relationships were identified with 14 variables such as anxiety, compassion fatigue and rumination, and negative relationship were found with eight variables such as social support and empathic concern. The discussion was further elaborated.
